Before he was elected president, Obama still showed a few signs of independent thinking. My sense now, however, is that he has been fully steered into the channels of orthodox center-left militarism. I base this on the concessions and retreats he has made since assuming office. Like other left leaning warhawks he simply lacks the will to take on the full blooded militarist nasties of the right. If he did have the guts to stand up to them it would have shown by now.
